Project Overview
Q Flooring Systems was appointed by Mannings Northern Ltd to deliver the terrazzo flooring package for the new-build Tesco store at Houghton-le-Spring. Completed within a demanding 28-day programme, the project involved the installation, finishing and diamond polishing of over 2,800m² of terrazzo flooring while working alongside multiple trades on a live construction site.
Scope of Works
- Installation of 2,800m² of 300 x 300 x 28mm terrazzo tiles
- Precision grouting and finishing
- Diamond grinding and polishing to a 1500-grit finish
- Quality inspections throughout the installation
- Weekend working to maintain programme milestones
The Challenge
Delivering a large-scale terrazzo installation within a fast-track construction programme required close coordination with the principal contractor and other trades. Maintaining a consistent, high-quality finish across more than 2,800m² while meeting programme deadlines demanded careful planning and expert workmanship.
The Outcome
The flooring package was completed on programme, providing Tesco with a durable, low-maintenance terrazzo floor designed to withstand heavy daily footfall.
